Resources to Support Your Child's Journey
Paving Ways Therapy › Hart 4 Autism ›

At Superhero Kiddos, we understand that every child’s path to progress is unique. While ABA therapy is a powerful tool in developing skills and reducing challenging behaviors, many children benefit from a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.

Below, we’ve compiled a list of trusted professionals and organizations that provide services which complement ABA therapy. These resources are here to support your child’s overall development—from communication to motor skills and beyond.

Recommended Partner Services

  • Speech and Language Therapy

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to improve communication skills including speech, understanding language, social communication, and alternative communication systems (AAC). For children receiving ABA services, speech therapy can be an essential part of helping them find their voice.

Understanding the Importance of an ADOS-2 Evaluation

If you or a loved one are seeking clarity regarding a possible Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) can be a valuable first step.

Widely recognized as the “gold standard” in ASD diagnostic tools (Kanne, Randolph, & Farmer, 2008; Ozonoff, Goodlin-Jones, & Solomon, 2005), the ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment that evaluates key areas such as:

  • Communication
  • Social interaction
  • Play and imaginative use of materials
  • Restricted and repetitive behaviors

Why the ADOS-2 Matters

The ADOS-2 helps guide a deeper understanding of how individuals engage and respond across different settings and developmental levels. This evaluation is not only a crucial part of a comprehensive diagnostic process, but it is also required by Medicaid and most private insurance providers prior to authorization for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services.

Assessment Structure

The ADOS-2 consists of five modules, each tailored to suit different age groups and language abilities. These modules use structured activities and social scenarios to observe behaviors that are essential to an ASD diagnosis.

Who Should Administer the ADOS-2?

To ensure accurate results, the ADOS-2 should only be administered by professionals who have:

  • Completed formal training with an ADOS-2 Certified Trainer
  • Prior experience and knowledge in autism spectrum disorders
  • Demonstrated competency in administering and scoring the tool

Virtual Assessments

In certain circumstances, virtual administration of the ADOS-2 may be considered. If you’d like to explore this option or have questions about scheduling an evaluation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help guide you every step of the way.
